So … I’m wide awake at 4:00 am. Normally I wake up at 4:30 when the alarm goes off but this morning I was wide awake at 4:00 am. One of the first thoughts that pop into mind is “should I go out and run?”.
In a perfect world, the answer is “yes” … but in my world, there is always a debate. Is it too cold? Too hot? Too dark? Do I feel up for a run? I ran last night, I shouldn’t run this morning. Do my legs hurt? Will I get injured? Is there enough time? What if there is a lion in the street? Geez … the debate can continue.
So, anyways, I finally decided to get out there and run despite the silly debate that rages in my head. I walked out of the house at 5:05 pm and started running. Of course, it is dark and cold. But not as cold as yesterday morning (when the question “is it too cold” won the debate). Yesterday, it was 18°F. This morning it was 31°F.
The air was crisp and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. That is one thing I do enjoy about these cold mornings, the stars are very bright. Orion was in the south-western sky followed by Sirius.
I just ran 4.1 miles this morning. My overall time was 41:03 for an average pace of 9:58. I really need to work on my speed. That will come … one day!
I hope everyone has a great day and great running! Cheers!
